Invisalign® Q & A

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign is the modern option when it comes to aligning your teeth. Unlike metal braces, which use brackets and wires attached to your teeth to guide them into place, Invisalign involves a series of removable clear trays designed to fit perfectly over your teeth.

Each tray in your series places pressure on your teeth to push them into their new predetermined position.

Before starting your Invisalign treatment, the team at Cute Dental Care, PC takes images and impressions of your teeth in their initial position.

Using the impressions, they predict the movement of your teeth and create your aligners. You wear each of them in order for two weeks at a time. The team can tell you how long it will take to finish your entire treatment.

What can Invisalign fix?

Very few people are graced with perfectly straight teeth naturally. Thankfully, Invisalign can fix many of the most common types of misalignments. The system is specifically designed to treat mild to moderate cases of:

  • Underbite
  • Overbite
  • Overjet
  • Open bite
  • Crowding
  • Crossbite
  • Large spaces between teeth
  • Generally crooked teeth

Some cases are too complex for Invisalign alone to fix. After your initial evaluation, the team at Cute Dental Care, PC can tell you which orthodontic option is best for you.

How does Invisalign affect my daily routine?

The appeal of Invisalign is that it doesn’t impact your daily routine nearly as much as traditional braces. In fact, it doesn’t change your appearance as much either. Most people can’t tell that you’re wearing anything over your teeth as you use your aligners.

During your treatment, you must:

  • Wear your aligners for 20 hours or more each day
  • Remove your aligners to eat
  • Remove your aligners to drink anything but water
  • Remove your aligners to brush your teeth
  • Brush your teeth after every meal
  • Clean your aligners by brushing them gently
  • Stop smoking during treatment

With Invisalign, you don’t have to restrict your diet — you can continue eating whatever you want as long as you remove your aligners first. The aligners stay in place unless you willingly remove them so there’s no need to worry about them falling out when you speak.
